Hello All
I suffered a power failure, this caused my pc to reboot itself. After reboot the pc would not load the OS, 'missing operating system' is displayed. I rebooted using WINME boot disk, when switching to C drive 'invalid disk' displayed. My system has 2 dirves, both are recognised by the bios. I ran FDISK, checked partitions etc, all appeared ok. 'missing operating system' still displayed.I ran FDISK /MBR and FDISK set partitions etc, 'missing operating system' still displayed. The main drive (C) is WD 40gb drive, I then ran the ez-bios (lets WINME see full capacity of drive). No errors displayed. Rebooted using WINME boot disk, I can now see C drive. At no time was the FORMAT command used My question is this: Can I recover the OS and data files? Thanks is advance Al |

See what it finds. After you've verified that your files are indeed there, you can purchase the key to unlock the save portion of the program. The less you use your computer, the better the chances are of a successful recovery. Even though you did not format, using the format recovery setting might turn up the best results for you. If you still need to locate other files, you could run a 'complete' search to see if it locates the specific files that you want.

You should be able to get your data back.
You need to run Windows to run Recover My Files. I think in your case you will need to connect the drive to another PC as the secondary drive. Once you can run Windows and see the attached problem drive you may find that your old file system is now accessible and you can get the data off. If you cannot see the drive, you can run Recover My Files and search the drive letter, or if you cannot see a drive letter, search the "physical drive". I suggest you try a "Fast Format Recover" to begin with, as this search will look for MFT records and rebuild the entire lost partition. A Fast Format Recover will take about 10 minutes - if this does not work, move to a "Complete Format Recover" which will scan the entire disk. Recover My Files does not repair the problem drive. It enables you to save the data files to another drive. There are some programs on the market that actually try and repair the problem drive but if the data is valuable to you I suggest you first use a program like Recover My Files to get the data off. Unlike Recover My Files, most drive repair programs change the contents of the drive which can actually make things worse.
