Default Why are my files coming back unplayable

My friend somehow made our 200 Gb ATA hard drive unrecognize by our computer. It say foreign object when we try to access it. I bought recover my files to get back our files. This drive held video files from our Avid editing software. First question, I started saving files it recovered and so far it has saved 90 gb worth. Well after spending countless hours doing this. I go to test it out and play an wav audio files that play faultless before the accident. Now Window Media is telling me the codec is off. After I check the audio files that was 1.68mb before Recover My Files recover it and made it 36.6 mb which is unplayable. How can I get these files back like they were before? I need to know how to recover my files so that they are useable.

After this question is answer I will ask my next one. Thanks in Advance.

Please make sure you are using the latest version of Recover My Files - currently v3.84 available from www.recovermyfiles.com or by clicking the UPDATE button on the main program screen.

It is best to start at the begining....

Please use Recover My Files to run a "Fast Format Recover". If you cannot see the drive letter of the problem drive any more, run the Fast Format Recover on the "physical drive". This search will take no more than 30 minutes.

If it recovers your files, save some samples and test to see if they will play.

Send me the "event log" which is located in the bottom left hand window of the resutls screen.

Thank you.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I will send you the information you requested when I get back to the office where the computer is located. I have the lastest version 3.84. The computer that the Recover My File is on don't have internet access.

I did a complete search and it shows all the files it recover which look pretty much like the whole drive. My second situation is I only had like a hundred g of space on the computer. Which I used to save a hundred gigs of the 200 g it recover. I need to turn off the computer to hook up my next 100 g drive that I have available Is it anyway I can save the search or do a procedure to keep my search while I turn the computer off to hook up my next hard drive to continue the save. How can I make it not repeat the same files it already save on the previous drives?

Recover My Files does not save it search results. This is a feature which will be included in future versions (there are some techinical issues to look at if a user changes the contents of the drive between when the results are saved and when the program is run again). Once the search is closed the results are gone and the search needs to be re-run.

I think that if you run a "Fast Format Recover" then you will get your data back. This search will take less than 20 minutes to run and should give you the complete file and folder structure with correct file sizes. However it only works in sepcific situations so I need you to provide me with the event log.

Run this search and save some files found and then tell me if they play ok. The we can talk about your storage issues.

Ok, it does not appear that the "Fast Format Recover" is working in your situation. Now please run a "Complete Format Recover" of the "physical drive" and search only for the default selected file types (do not add more file types to the search). Please let me know how this goes and send me the event log.

Thank you.

Default No Usable Files has been recover besides Doc

I did the complete search and the fast search which took like 50 minutes instead of 20 minutes. When it was saving files it recover it crashed. The files it did save are unplayable from audio to video files (OMF Avid Media files) as well as others. The photo shop document, TGA files won't load. So from what I am seeing is that Recover My Files will find the files but the files it find is unusable. Is their any other way to get my files back so that they actually work once they are recover?

Default Where are the usable recover files?

This log is from the complete search

The Fast Search crash once I was saving them to another drive and I wasn't able to get a log from it. The files that it did save are not able to be open and audio/video do not play at all. Is it another remedy to get the files back like they were with no corruption?

The log you sent looks to be from a "Complete File Search". I need you to run a "Complete Format Recover" of the physical drive for the default selected file types and send me the log.
