Saving files takes forever........

I understand that patience with RMFv5 is important. However I am saving files, and the first 50 to 60 files fly by. Then the saving slows way down. Then it may speed up again and then slow down again. Is this just indicative of a damaged drive? (This drive was dropped and other programs could not read it.)

Yes, i have seen physically damaged drives act like this before.

When the saving slows down, do you hear the spinning of the disk slow down? This is an indication of a physical issue with the disk mechanics. Or, when the saving slows, can you hear the disk spinning at the same speed, but making a sound like it is trying to read a section of the disk again and again. This is more likely when the surface of a platter is damaged and it is essentially trying to read a bad sector/s.
