Long story short, during a "bill gates" required restart on my Dell XP Pro laptop, my cdrw drive decides to start reformatting my CDRW disk. I promptly stopped the process. Now the computer will not recognize it as a CDRW to reformat, but does see it as a CDR with 148mb of spaced used and zero available. Of course, I cannot see any files on the disk.
Is there a solution out there that can see my files and recover them? |

You should be able to get the data back from your CD. Dont write anything to it.
Recover My Files is not intended to be used on CDs. It does work on some CD types but not all. In version 4 (wich will be released in a few months) we will add full CD recovery support. Currently you can try running Recover My Files and do a Complete File Search. In the drive selection window, select and search the CD. You will soon see if it is working or not. If it does not work for your particular CD then I suggest you search Google specifically for a CD recovery tool.

I tried RMF earlier, the CDRW does not show up as a physical or logical drive in the tool. I can find the CD drive and disk under File explorer in XP, but not with RMF. I guess I need to find a CD-specific recvoery tool.
Unless there are any suggestions. Thanks. |
