Default Worth it's ****** in GOLD!!!

I want to thank Graham Henley for his exceptional patience and support. After suffering from a failed SP2 installation that originated on a USB drive, the external USB drive became "de-initialized" and I could no longer read any data on the drive. Thinking I had no choice but to re-initialize the drive, I instructed my computer to go ahead and initialize the drive. This promtly reformated the drive and sent me into panic mode because I had recently moved 15 years of collected mp3's to this drive and now I felt they were gone forever. After 18 hours, and a little coaching from Graham, I was able to recover EVERY SINGLE mp3 (Almost 50G's)!!! However, there were a few bumps along the way. Three times, the software "locked-up" my computer and I had to cold start my system again. In all fairness, this could had been caused by several other factors. My computer is a Intel 4(HT) 3.2G with 1G of Ram. Internally I have a master hard drive (250G) and a slave drive (300G). I also have two external USB drives connected; a Maxtor Onetouch II (250G) and a ******* USB drive (300G). My computer has Norton Systemworks AND Internet Security running 24/7 as well as Spysweeper. It is possible that one of these programs caused the "lock-up" since they are in constant communication with the update servers for each program. The reason I suspect these other programs may have caused the problem is that I disabled both the Norton and SpySweeper (Webroot) software and then the recovery program ran until completion. I only mention it here because I found no instructions to disable, or disconnect from the internet (Broadband) prior to running the recovery program and I wounder if this has been tested and proven to caused problems. Fortunately, this was a small price to pay in inconvience and ultimately I was able to Recover all my data. I wholeheartedly reccomend using this program!!!

Default Data Recovery

Thanks for the feedback, its great news that you got all your data back.

Yes, it is a good idea if you are doing a recovery to disable Norton or any other program that is likely to jump in and try and take up computer resources whilst the recovery is in place. Data recovery is very intense work on the computer processor and when another program like Norton tries to take processor time it can cause the program to slow to a crawl.
