I lost an entire music archive harddrive due to my stupiditiy with partitioning and installing Windows and am in the process of trying to recover with this software.
Most of the files are mp3s but a lot of the best ones are FLAC (free lossless codec) with a .flac extenstion. I was wondering if this software will recover these files since I do not see FLAC on the list of multimedia type files. Thanks, Glenn |

If you partition and reinstalled windows then you need to user Recover My Files (www.recovermyfiles.com) to run a "Complete Format Recover".
Were there only music files on this disk? Or were there other file types as well. Usually I suggest that you only search for the default file types. These file types are used to locate the old partition records and find the entire partition (including all file types, not just the ones selected).

Yes, this was pretty much all music files.. there might be the odd other file type on there but it's a 300gb drive with mostly music... both compressed mp3 and uncompressed flac.
I believe it was partitioned. Can't remember exactly how I set it up. I should win a Darwin award for this one. |

OK,
First try a "Fast Format Recover". Try this both on the drive letter (if you still have one) and also the "Physical Drive". This search takes less than 20 minutes to run so lets hope it works. If a it does not work you will need to run a "Complete Format Recover". Leave the default files selected, but also add the MP3 file type to the search. Adding the MP3 file type to the search will slow it down, and on a 300gb drive this could run for days. So, let it run untill the "Files Found" indicator on the progress bar reaches 1000, then, whilst the search is in progress, click on the OPTIONS button and in the FILE TYPES tab take the tick out of the MP3 file type and continue the search. At the end of the search it will rebuild the old partiton and you will find all your files, including the FLAC.
