Corrupt disk

Hi

I have a corrupt disk, it always hangs when XP is starting up.
I have seen some io errors.
Now i bought a new disk and installed xp and all other things including recovermyfiles.
The new system finds the old disk and when i run fast format everything hangs after 17 minutes. i have to do a power reboot, Why ?

It is hard to know what is causing this problem.

Are you able to see the disk as a drive letter? or just a physical drive?

Try switching from searching the drive letter to the physical drive and see if this changes this. If possible please let me know what the event log says (its a tab in the bottom left corner of the results screen).

Have you tried running a Complete Format Recover for the default selected file types?
