short story:
old motherboard died, replaced it with new board and processor (good deal) as well as upgrading to a SATA drive since I didnt want to erase my old harddrive. long part (in ways): have hooked the hardrive up as slave it works perfectly.. but (and ive been told this is retardedly my fault) the most impartant data that i want tokeep beyond anything else is 29GB in folders on the desktop.... which is of course the only unmovable/unaccessible files.... trying to search through this board for this type of thing is lengthy so forgive me if this is a duplicate. will this program get me the files off my old desktop? You will be able to use Recover My Files to search your drive for specific file types, and then when you find them, save the over to your new drive.
I am not sure is the files are actually deleted, or are just inaccessible due to windows permissions. In an case, when you search with Recover My Files, run the search on the "physical drive" and this will ignore all the Windows drive information and give you access to all files on the disk. Please let us know how it goes.
