Default help can't read recovered file

I was looking for a SPSS (.sav) that was formatted a few months ago. I ran a complete formatted search and I was able to see the SPSS file, the preview did not look like SPSS data however it did not look as to be corrupted data with a bunch of random letters and numbers. The preview was in a format of :

Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7

The size of the file is 114kb. I did run a Complete File search but did not find the file I was looking for. I purchased the program saved the file hoping if I opened it with SPSS it will fix everything but all I saw was:

Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7
Something = 7

I can’t provide what the wording of that “something” actually is right now because I don’t have the file with me but has anyone seen this? Is the file corrupted? If so, are there tools out there that can repair corrupted SPSS files (kind of like the one MS has for Word documents).

Thanks for your help

Joe

Default Data Recovery

It looks like the file that you are trying to recover has been overwritten and become corrupt.

Please send us the file and we will take a look.
