Hi
I lost 160 Gb of video and music files (I know, stupid) yesterday when i merged 2 partitions, after reverting back from a dual-boot system. The larger partition, with the multimedia files, became unformatted, so i quickformatted it for easier and faster recovery. I don't really car about the 130 gb of video, because i can get those rom other places anyhow, but i want my about 28 Gb of music. All the programs i used first didn't recover the songs properly, they wouldn't play. recover my files does that, but since it so much, it will be hard to find every folder with music. i want to know if the files keep their ID3-tags, even though their names change. and also, should i defragment? thanks |

Dont defragment as it will just make recovery more difficult (and for others reading this post - dont quick format a drive as it can also make recovery more difficult).
An MP3 file has all the details of the file inside it. The best renaming program I have found is www.123renamer.com - which has a special option for renaming mp3 files.
