Hi
I have just run some tests and deleted some Excel files deliberately. I then immediatly scan to find them and the only thing it ever shows for recovery are Excel Files that DO NOT require recovery i.e. Already there. Q: Why does it always show files which have not been deleted (or changed) Q: Why does it not show any of the recently deleted files. Am I scanning incorrectly? I generally scan the area that I store the files rather than the Whole C Drive. |

You need to run a "Fast File Search" to do this test.
In the drive selection screen you need to put a tick next to the C: drive and scan the whole drive. A Fast File Search should take less than 30 minutes to run. By adding a folder to the search you are only asking the program to scan the existing non deleted files in that folder. This is a technique usually used to find active temporary files created by programs such as Microsoft Word.

Quick Search: I tried that but interestingly enough it didn't offer any recovery Excel files from my desktop. I created 3 new ones, and then deleted them along with some old ones that were already there. As this is a test all is ok. I would however be a bit concerned if I needed the files back. It recovered nothing that was recently deleted from this location. I am looking for a good recovery program for clients hence the testing.

In the Recover My Files drive selection window, please put a tick in the box next to the Recycle Bin, to make sure the files are not still in there.
Also, make sure you preview all the files found, as it is possible, but unlikely, that the original name has been lost. You can also run a "Complete File Search" for the deleted files.
