I recently lost all my digital pics that were on a camera flash card.
I'm in the process of recovering them. Recover My Files software is recovering the files. The problem is that they are being recovered at 5mb per file (jpeg). All of these files were less than 100kb before I lost them. Now they are 5x their original size. I went into microsoft Picture It photo editing to try and attempt to resize the pics, and adust the resolution and pixel dimensions, but these are all set at the pics original size. Why are these files being saved at 5.00mb? And is their a way to save them to their original size? I'm waisting alot of storage space. Please be as simple in your answer as possible as I am not the most knowlegable person when it comes to computers. |

When you open the files in your photo editing software, select "save as" and save the file to a new name. You should find that the new file is the correct size.

Thanks for the tip. What I'm hoping to do is avoid that approach, which is a tremendous amount of work. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I had approx. 400 digital pics on a flash card. For some unknown reason, they can not be seen on the card, although the card shows that it is almost out of memory. I ran the recover my files software, and it found the pics. Only now, the pics have been renamed (which I can live with), but every jpeg is now 5120kb. These files were less than 100kb before they were lost. Why are the so large after recovery? And can I so something during the recovery process that will save them to their original size? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

When you run Recover My Files, click on "Manually select options" in the first wizard window.
In the SEARCH tab, put a tick in "Search for lost files" and take the tick out of "try and determine file size....". Now set the default size at 2mb, run the search, and see if this makes a difference. Thank you. |

Thanks for the tip. This worked on approx one half the recovered files. The other half are still being recovered at 5120kb. Is there any way to recover ALL of the files at their original size? Also, the files were saved sequentially by date. During the recovery, they are all over the place. Is there a way to recovery these files chronologically by the date the pics were taken? Thanks Again |

Hi,
We are currenlty looking into the file size issue. If you can email me one of the files that stayed at 5120kb it would be helpful. The date is a known issue and we plan to fix this in the release of Version 4, due out in about 2 months. |

I never heard back from Admin after he asked that I send him the file in question (I e-mailed him twice).
Has anyone one else had problems with getting any kind of support? Admin, if you see this, please respond (as a common courtesy). If anyone else has the solution to my problem, I would love to hear it!! |

Hello,
Sorry, you emails got eaten by the spam filter on our email server. Please try the latest version of Recover My Files, 3.96 (you must download it from www.recovermyfiles.com as it is not yet available via the update button). Run the search again and let me know if this fixes the problem.
