Default Very Frustrated

I am so mad and frustrated at the moment.

I updated my anti-virus the other day, and after it restarted i got all these problems. At the end of it i had to format the pc as it would not log into windows whats so ever..

Every time i rebooted the machine the logo of windows would appear and after that a blue screen appeared saying Memory Dump.

And i could never get past that stage. Nor could i get into Safe Mode or anything.

I have found recovery files and stuff on the net, but they seem to upload anything and everything that i am not after..

I had Microsoft Office 2003 Installed on the PC and we had several documents from school work to Nursing and that is all gone, i cant even seem to get them back.. With the recovery programs, and hence thse frustration, i do not have the Microsoft Office 2003 Setup disc..

What can i do, i have tried everything possible that i am aware of, why did the anti-virus do this to mee?

I had trend Micro 2006....

Please help me.

Sean

Default Data Recovery

Download Recover My Files from www.recovermyfiles.com.

I suggest you run a "Complete Format Recover" and search the drive letter for the default selected file types. Look in both File and Folder view for the search resutls.

If you dont have applications like Word installed, try using Explorer View from www.explorerview.com to view the contents of files.

I donwloaded it and selected complete.
And i chose only the office files.

It finished and now i have exported it to a folder, however each file is only 512 bytes..

Default Data Recovery

If you are saving 512kb files then you are using a pirate version. It sounds like your data is not that important to you after all.

Default not to veer off-topic

First time poster....apologies if this is off-topic.

Sean,

I do not have much details wrt your PC, but newer PCs from Dell and other manufacturers typically does not come with the setup CD for the installed software (this is a trend that I see for systems sold in the USA), you may have to call in to the PC manufacturer and ask for the specific steps needed to reimage your PC. There may be a 'hidden' partition on your current hard drive that can be 'reactivated' by running the restoration CD to reload all the typical software that was initially configured on your PC.

Prior to doing that, I would seriously consider working out the licensing issues with your copy of RMF to avoid doing more damages to the files that you have spent much time in trying to recover.

Graham, my question to you is if sites such as softpile and sharewareplaza are authorized distributors for GetData. I have tried out the trial version from the download link and things looks to be promising. Planning to purchase the software while trying to save a few shillings. Just wanted to be sure that I will be getting a legit software key from an authorized distributor. The discounts offered is only 10% but that means a lot to me.

Thanks in advance....

Default Data Recovery

The best way to know that you are downloading the legitimate version is to check that the download link is: http://download.getdata.com/RecoverMyFiles-Setup.exe.

Legitimate download sites point to our download server to get the file. There are only a handful of sites that do not, and they are usually the major sites such as download.com and tucows.com.

It would be very difficult to download a priate version by mistake! As you can see from the post in the forum, the pirate versions do not work! (as well as the many other risks involved in installing pirate software).

If you are looking for a discount, I suggest you write to GetData support and ask for one :-).
