Default unable to open recovered files - need codec

I recently accidentally deleted some AVI files from my computer. The original files were downloaded from my camera, and I had deleted them from the camera once I put them on my computer. Fortunately I had not used the camera since downloading the files, and although they were deleted I figured the files would be easy to recover off the camera. I used RecoverMyFiles software, and was pleased to see that the software told me the files on the camera would be easy to recover.
However, once I recovered the files from the camera and got them on my computer only a handfull of the files would open. It said I was missing a codec. I had the same problem when I first got the files off the camera, but was easily able to find the Divx codec the camera instructions called for, and download it for free. So, the files all worked fine before they were deleted. The recovered files do not open, except for a few out of about 100 files.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Default Avi Recovery

Try opening them with VLC media player from www.videolan*****

If this does not work, please send a sample via the support page at www.recovermyfiles.com.

Thank you.

That software opened a couple of the files, but the vast majority of them do not play on this software either. It seems to have issues with the file length. Is there another method for recovering the files?

How big is the camera card on which the files are being recovered?

Probably the best thing to do would be to take an image of your card and then we can see exactly what is going on with these avi files.
